I am currently in Bishop, California heading into the Sierra to hike the Kings Canyon High Basin Route. I only have a second to explain as we’re driving to the trail as I write.
A few days ago, my friend invited me along on the hike. With much of Oregon and Northern California on fire, ~300 trail miles closed, I jumped at the chance.
Her van was parked in Portland so I hitched down with friends and spent the last two days driving here to Bishop. The drive was long. Id rather have walked!
This route is slated to take 12 days. It’s off trail through the Sierra and super challenging. I can’t wait! I’ll post the last section of Washington and this route when I’m back.
Talk to y’all soon!
